Dear Colleagues
We are happy to announce that the much-awaited Baroda Chest Group’s (now known as the Society of Respiratory Medicine Vadodara) 5 – yearly Goa Respiratory Update will be held in July 2024.

Our efforts to offer the best of educational experience in respiratory medicine began with the first Update in 2007 (programme attached). Goa was chosen as the venue as we, in the society do believe that science and fun should go hand-in-hand and Goa with its beaches and sand, sun and rain, food and frolic epitomizes all that is best of both worlds. Buoyed with the success of the inaugural meeting, the second Update in 2012 (programme brochure attached) had an irresistible scientific feast comprising of basic and advanced topics covering a wide spectrum of respiratory diseases. A comprehensive “how I do” series touched upon clinically relevant day-to-day problems and a pre-conference workshop on Lung Pathology was attended with great enthusiasm by both pathologists and pulmonary physicians. The last Update in 2018 received an overwhelming response due to the presence of an enviable faculty led by world experts and the multidisciplinary workshop on Diffuse Parenchymal Lung Diseases. Over the last 2 decades, these Goa Respiratory Updates have established themselves as a comprehensive state-of-the art educational meeting in the field of Respiratory Medicine, attracting over 300 delegates from all over the country and abroad. We have been privileged to have, as our faculty, some of the foremost world experts in their fields and our interdisciplinary approach, arising from the inputs of our 77 strong society membership of specialists – all passionate about Respiratory Medicine, have made these Updates an attractive scientific event for all practitioners to attend.

Covid fatigue blunted our energies for a year having derailed plans of holding the 4th Update in 2022, but we have sprung back with renewed determination and our young Gen X members are all geared up to offer a most memorable July 2024 scientific extravaganza, which will continue to emphasis on practical topics encompassing all the developments over the last 6 years. Pre-conference workshops will continue to be the highlight along with all the well recognizable sections of “morning tea with expert”, How I do session, debates, felicitation oration and case discussions. And yes we will not forget the traditional 5 K run, the evening beach sports and the rock band!

To all our previous attendees, we promise you a bigger, better and bolder experience and to the first - timers, we promise you will become our regulars. For nobody can escape the magic of Goa, the charm of Respiratory Medicine and the warm hospitality of the Baroda Chest Group.
